The 10-Minute Ritual: A DIY Hot Oil Treatment to Save Dry, Brittle Hair
Is your hair feeling extra dry, brittle, and "crispy" to the touch? A regular conditioner might not be enough. You need an intensive treatment that can penetrate your hair shaft, nourish it from the inside out, and seal in that precious moisture.
A hot oil treatment is one of the oldest and most effective rituals for natural hair. The warmth gently lifts your hair's cuticles, allowing the nutrient-rich oils to penetrate deeply.
Forget store-bought treatments with silicone and fillers. You can create the most potent, 100% natural "superfood" treatment in your own kitchen using our unrefined botanicals.
The "Superfood" Ingredients
This treatment is designed for maximum strength and moisture.
-
The Strengthener: Nubiana's 100% Pure Batana Oil
-
Why: This is your repair hero. It's packed with nutrients that fortify the hair shaft, mending weak spots and stopping breakage.
-
-
The Sealant (Optional): Nubiana's 100% Pure African Shea Butter
-
Why: If your hair is extra dry (e.g., high porosity or winter-damaged), adding a little shea butter will provide an unmatched level of sealing power.

The Simple Hot Oil Treatment
What You'll Need:
-
2 tablespoons of Pure Batana Oil
-
(Optional) 1 tablespoon of Pure African Shea Butter
-
A small, heat-safe glass bowl
-
A larger bowl of hot water
-
A plastic cap (or shower cap)
Step 1: Gently Melt Your Oils
Place your Batana Oil (and shea butter, if using) into the small glass bowl. Place this small bowl into the larger bowl filled with hot (not boiling) water. This is a gentle "double boiler" that warms the oils without "cooking" them and destroying their nutrients. Let it sit for 2-3 minutes until it's a smooth, warm, melted liquid.
Step 2: Apply to Hair and Scalp
This treatment works best on dry or slightly damp hair before you shampoo.
-
Work in sections. Dip your fingers into the warm oil and massage it first into your scalp. This stimulates blood flow.
-
Next, work the oil down the lengths of your hair, paying special attention to your ends (the oldest, most fragile part of your hair).
Step 3: Add Heat & Wait
Once your hair and scalp are fully saturated, pile your hair on top of your head and cover it with a plastic cap. This traps the heat from your scalp. For an extra-deep treatment, wrap a warm, damp towel around the cap.
Let this sit for a minimum of 30 minutes. (This is a great time to relax with a cup of tea!)
Step 4: Wash It Out
Hop in the shower, and shampoo and condition as usual. You will need to shampoo thoroughly (maybe twice) to wash out all the pure, rich oil.
You will be left with hair that is incredibly soft, shiny, and feels stronger and more resilient. Do this ritual once a week or every two weeks to completely transform your hair's health.
